The health and safety of the Transylvania University community are our highest priorities. The administration at Transylvania has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely since early February and has issued several updates related to this health situation.

This page includes a list of cancellations affecting the Transylvania University community.

Most on-campus events through the end of the academic year will be rescheduled or canceled, including:

  • The Judy Gaines Young Award presentation on March 17 will be rescheduled for a later date
  • The Kenan Lecture with U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo on March 18 will be rescheduled for next academic year. Harjo will visit Transylvania in March 2021. 
  • Matthew Gianforte & Meeyoun Park Guest Artist Recital on March 19
  • The Crimson Compass admissions event scheduled for March 22-23 is canceled.
  • Electronic Music Student Recital on March 24
  • Cabaret 2020 by Transylvania’s choral ensembles on March 27
  • Transylvania Chamber Orchestra concert on April 1
  • Faculty Diversity Workshop on April 1
  • Transylvania Band Concert on April 3
  • The Creative Intelligence Series lecture on “Wastewater Inequality” by Catherine Coleman Flowers on April 8 is canceled and will be rescheduled for fall
  • Alumni Weekend, April 24-26, is canceled for 2020. Alumni should watch their email for a “virtual alumni weekend” experience date and time.
  • Fun Home, May 13-17, has been rescheduled for Oct. 14-18.
  • The in-person Commencement ceremony on May 23 has been postponed to a later date. A virtual celebration will take place in May. Follow our social media accounts for details.
  • Faculty Retirement Luncheon is postpone to a later date.
  • On-campus tours for admissions will be canceled until further notice. Visit our Virtual Tour to explore videos, photos and more!
  • Rentals for outside organizations through canceled until further notice.
  • All athletic activities are indefinitely suspended.
